Is there any useful DD rom for this phone? topic

My wife has a razr M running FXZ 182. I've de-bloated it as much as possible and it still runs like garbage. Her phone will randomly reboot throughout the day, sometimes it won't answer calls, when she charges it it gets very hot, the camera sometimes crashes too. Overall it's a pretty terrible phone. She really wants a Nexus 5 like I have but we can't afford it right now.

Are there any daily driver roms that just work, I don't care about fancy features or even latest android (although it would be nice). She just needs something that doesn't rape the battery, will snap a photo once and a while and take/make calls.

I was wondering if private mode is really useful to the average person.

I'm not using my phone for work purposes. It's all mine.
I'm not downloading warez or viewing porn.
I'm not running suspicious apps.
I keep the phone fingerprint locked and have remote lock capability. If I decide to participate in a public protest I'll take further steps.

Do any of you other "normal people" find that private mode is useful and if so, why?
