I have an HP laptop running Windows 7 pro. This laptop supports a virtual machine which I have XP running presently. I am wondering, is there a Linux that I could run as a virtual machine on this laptop?
if possible, I would prefer to do that than set up another PC.

Cannot paste text topic

Hi all, I'm using a Z1 compact and have problems copying & pasting text. Copying is weird enough (double tap instead of long tap as in EVERY other android device), but still doable. Pasting is a no go for me, I don't know how to perform it. Normally on other android phone I just long tap the field and the menu would come up allowing me to paste, but now If I long tap an empty field, it just gives me the magnifying glass icon. Even if I try entering some dummy text then double tapping it, it stills show a menu with ONLY 3 button: Select all, Copy and Cut. No Paste button. What the heck??? Any help is appreciated.

Cannot access nandroids TWRP 2.8.1.0 & 2.8.3.0 topic

This started on TWRP 2.8.1.0, but is still a problem on 2.8.3.0. I can make a nandroid backup just fine, but when I try to restore a nandroid I get a blank grey screen in TWRP in both internal & external storage locations (screenshots attached). Other than this little "glitch" the recovery is fully functional, I can successfully perform any task in recovery except restore a nandroid backup.
On 2.8.0.1 I figured my recovery was borked so I sought out an updated version, and flashed it via Terminal Emulator, but the issue persists on 2.8.3.0 TWRP Manager would neither show an update or re-flash 2.8.1.0 successfully.
Anyone else run into this on the T-Mobile LG G3 D851?

External SD is formatted as FAT32 & is accessible from within the OS, and recovery except when navigated to through the *Restore* tab in recovery.

HELP! Cannot get freegee to work! topic

So I installed the 10K tot file and then used towel root to root the phone. Rootchecker says the phone is rooted but then every time I open freegee. it goes to the play store and starts busybox which I install but the freegee says cannot install file. What's going on here? Please help! :o

Whenever I try and access any of several different GDrive Accounts on my N9, ES returns an error message "net://XXXXX@gdrive/ is not found.

ES access to my GDrive is currently working on my Nexus 6, Nexus 7, GNII, etc. It's just the Nexus 9 LTE (5.0.1 no encryption)

I've uninstalled/reinstalled fresh, reboot, revoked/restored ES app account permission, tried to restore from other devices' settings backups.

ES just does not work on my N9.

Cannot Restore backup.ab topic

I have a moto g 2013 xt1032 and i saw a post abou flashable lollipop for it
I flash it and now it's on lollipop
Before that i made a backup using holobackup which i always use.
I tried to restore my 4gb backup.ab but a window appeared and alot of words ran for a couple of seconds and then stopped .Nothing is restored.
Please help me ,i need those files back desperately

T-Mobile LTE? Cannot get LTE, only 4G topic

I cannot get LTE at all on my vs980, using CloudyStock 2.6 and cannot get T - Mobile to receive LTE. On 24A band.

Fiddled with all the GSM settings and the fastest speed im getting is 4/0.3 contrary to a similar phone getting 50/28 so its not reception

[Q] Cannot install Safestrap on Kindle Fire HDX 2013 (Thor), parse error topic

I have a Fire HDX Thor 7" tablet from 2013, which has just updated to FireOS 4.5.2. However, I still had the same error on the original version of the OS.
When I try to install Safestrap, downloaded from the links provided in this thread from ES file explorer, I get a "Parse error". I have tried all 5 apks.
This is the error I get when tapping install: "There was a problem parsing the package.", preventing me from installing the app.
I have all the requirements, root access and SuperSU successfully installed. All other apks install fine.
Any ideas/alternate apps that will allow me to boot into a custom ROM? I would like to install CM or stock KitKat if possible.

[Q] Cannot format mounted filesystem but filesystem is not mounted. topic

I've just rebooted my phone after creating a new partition table on my external sdcard following this guide.
Now I'm attempting to format the single partition I've created to ext4 but mke2fs says that it can't format mounted filesystem.
I've looked through the output of mount but nowhere does the external sdcard appear.

Also, I'm doing this so I can symlink folders from my external sdcard to the internal sdcard. I've already tried Directory Binder but it does not work on Android Lollipop.

Cannot boot phone, just hard shuts off topic

I've had issues with this phone where if I take it off of the charger, It'll just completely turn off.
Sometimes also just with random usage even on charger
Now, its not even booting up, it'll hit the AT&T boot splash and immediately turn off.
Before that it would finish the AT&T boot splash and then turn off.

Recovery mode works fine, so does Download mode.
I've used the Heimdall One-Click program and while it runs fine, doesn't help.

It's running Gingerbread iirc.
EDIT: Also battery charges up just fine, and yes I've searched around the forums.

I would like to root my OPO (preferrably with total backup because ive had the phone for about a month)
So i tried to use the Bacon Root Tool kit for OPO (saw a lot of good comments)
Now when i try to install the USB drivers for the OPO i cannot seem to get it to work.
Ive been looking all over the internet to find solution, tried the google usb driver, the universal samsung driver and a universal usb driver from koosh.
Ive been trying this on 3 computers (Win 7 both 64 and 32 and an old Win Vista PC)
I think i tried about evrything i know (not much of a programmer) so im trying to get in this forums knowledge.

If anyone could help me, i'd be very grateful

Hi guys,

I'm looking for some help here.
I'm trying to run Cataclysm Rom on nexus 5. I already used it with kitkat but when i installed STOCK lollipop and then try to install Cataclysm i cannot open my sdcard dir. I get this error, even with su:
opendir failed, Permission denied. Then i cant even make downloads to my sdcard.
But from recovery i can open it and access to all the files in /sdcard. It seems that something is wrong with the permissions.

Of course i made factory reset before install Cataclysm and also wipe cache and dalvik.


Anyone know what might be happening?

HTC ONE M7 GPE cannot unlock topic

Hi ,
My phone is HTC one m7. When I get an OTA update for android 5.0.1, the update process stuck and after a reboot I cannot get into the system.

So I tried to recovery and even factory reset, both cannot work in my phone.

Following the unlock procedure, everything is fine but without a pop-up menu to let me unlock the phone at the last stage.

I have also tried the RUU, but it all reports the same problem (fail in signature verification) based on several roms I have downloaded.

Any help for this. Thanks a lot for your time and help.

I can install roms from the recovery but I absolutely need Wifi calling/sms/mms. I have terrible service in my apartment and at work as well. Installed hyper v6 but was told I need to odin/kies to 4.4.4.

i have a HTC one (m7) phone unlocked, rooted, S-OFF which i have converted to GPE and right now has installed 5.0.1. Everything is working fine! except one think, the connection in cellular networks. I have that issue for over a month right now and i don't know what i can do! i have tried to change the setting through *#*#4636#*#* but i noticed that i don't have ip..(IP addr not reachable) any ideas? also an other really weird thing that i noticed is that i can receive phonecalls only in 2G networks.

So I have the LG G3 D855 running AndroidNowHD Lollipop 4.0 and this morning an update to 6.0 was released.
A few days ago I formatted my computer, it's completely fresh.
I downloaded LG United Mobile Driver and installed it, rebooted.
I then loaded up LG Flash Tool > selected my original KDZ > CSE Flash > START > OK
It then says "The phone is disconnected from PC. Connect the USB cable and wait a moment."

As far as I'm aware, the cable is plugged into my computer, and my phone...

Cannot Update to Lollipop topic

I have a rooted Nexus 7 2013 with Cyanogenmod recovery. I just got the update notification for Android 5.0.1 , but the Cyanogenmod recovery didn't allow it because of a build fingerprint release keys error (status 7). I deleted the update zip file in cache, and now it won't get a new OTA update. I downloaded the file manually and tried using flashify, but it gave the same error. I also tried a while back ago with another way and modifying a script to try to remove the error, but it didn't work. It's really pissing me off and I just want Lollipop already. How do I update to Lollipop without losing all my data? Thanks.
